The entire Monticello community is stunned and saddened by the loss of Jason Stevens, Saunders-Monticello Trail Manager, in a tragic car accident on Sunday, June 21, 2015.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to Jason’s family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, and we extend our deepest sympathies to all.
Jason served our country and served our community. Here at Monticello, Jason’s passion was the Saunders-Monticello Trail. From 2005 to 2015, Jason worked tirelessly on developing and improving the Trail for everyone in the community, and in all seasons could be found out on the walkway or in the surrounding woods, making repairs, planning improvements, or sharing his vast knowledge with anyone and everyone he met.
Jason was also enormously proud of the Trail’s popularity in our community, and he enthusiastically corresponded with runners, walkers and Trail supporters. His dedication and enthusiasm were limitless, and he will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be made in Jason's memory to benefit the Saunders-Monticello Trail.
