This burial ground, which holds over 40 graves and was likely used beginning in the eighteenth century.
Jefferson Family Burial Places
Due to poor winter weather conditions on the mountaintop, Monticello will be closed to the public on Wednesday, February 12.
The burial places of Thomas Jefferson, his parents, and his siblings are listed below:

- Jane Randolph Jefferson (February 9, 1720-March 31, 1776): Monticello Graveyard
- Jane Jefferson (June 27, 1740 - October 1, 1765): Shadwell
- Mary Jefferson Bolling (October 1, 1741 - 1804): Unknown
- Thomas Jefferson (April 2/13, 1743 - July 4, 1826): Monticello graveyard
- Elizabeth Jefferson (November 4, 1744 - February/March 1774): Shadwell
- Martha Jefferson Carr (May 29, 1746 - September 3, 1811): Monticello graveyard
- Peter Field Jefferson (October 16, 1748 - November 29, 1748): Shadwell
- Unnamed Son (March 9, 1750 - March 9, 1750): Shadwell
- Lucy Jefferson Lewis (October 10, 1752 - ?): Kentucky
