Archibald Thweatt (1772-1844) was a correspondent of Thomas Jefferson's and a relative by marriage. Thweatt married Lucy Eppes, John Wayles Eppes's sister, in 1802.[1] He purchased Eppington in 1810 and lived there until his death. He was heavily involved in the execution of John Wayles's estate, and corresponded with Jefferson frequently on this issue during the latter's retirement. Thweatt was also a member of the Virginia House of Delegates (1813-15, 1816-18) representing Chesterfield County. He died August 14, 1844, at Eppington.[2]
