“’The Angel of Destruction’: Foreign Interference and the Election of 1796, with Dr. Tyson Reeder, Assistant Professor, Corcoran Department of History, University of Virginia.

Panel Discussion: The panel will examine the relationship between and the challenges faced by diplomats and journalists, who are responsible for reporting to the public and the key decision- makers on issues from around the world that are vital to U.S. national interest.

Keynote: Nick Schifrin, foreign affairs and defense correspondent for the PBS NewsHour, based in Washington, D.C. will draw on his extensive background reporting from all over the world, and particularly from the Middle East, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Pakistan, to look forward and reflect on where the ever changing relations between diplomacy, news, and propaganda may be taking us.
