Self-guided tour

Visitors will learn about the impact of Thomas Jefferson as an influential figure in early American history, about Monticello as an iconic architectural feat, and about the lives and skills of the enslaved community who worked to shape this landscape in many critical ways. Explore the first floor of the main house and our exhibits in the visitor center, do special activities on the West Lawn and Mulberry Row, hike miles of outdoor trails, learn about ongoing research and new discoveries from Monticello's archaeologists and more.
