Jefferson listed Rosemary as one of the "Objects for the garden this year" in 1794. A native of the Mediterranean long used as a culinary and medicinal herb, Rosemary is an evergreen shrub with small needle-like leaves that give a rich piney aroma when rubbed or cooked. Until 2017 it was known by the Latin name Rosmarinus officinalis.
