Join archaeologists on a walking tour to hidden parts of the plantation and learn how archaeology informs our understanding of the lives of those who lived and worked at Monticello. Archaeologists will take visitors to various sites along the Fourth Roundabout and visit recent excavations of a late-18th-century domestic site where enslaved agricultural laborers once lived.

 

Tours are offered every weekday from June 6 - July 15, except July 4 and 7, and will meet at the bronze Plantation Model near the Monticello Farm Table café.

 

Tours are dependent on weather and trail conditions. Walk is approximately one mile round trip and moderately strenuous, with uneven terrain and one steep hill. Visitors should wear trail and weather-appropriate shoes and clothing. Not recommended for children under age 5.

 

This tour is included with any ticketed tour admission. No reservations needed.
