We are currently recruiting to fill the following positions:
Accounting Associate. The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Inc. has an immediate opening in its busy Accounting Department. Duties encompass general accounting activities including: reconciling and posting sales transactions, invoices, and receipts, and reviewing payroll data. This position is responsible for processing department mail, daily bank deposits, fixed asset entry, and filing financial and personnel records. Candidates must have excellent attention to detail, flexibility, ability to multi-task and prioritize work flow. Proficiency with Excel required; experience with Great Plains software is a plus. Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience is required. Deadline to apply is 12/3/09.

Monticello Guides (part time). The Foundation seeks candidates with the enthusiasm to share Monticello with visitors of every age and background. Successful candidates will provide visitor programs including giving tours of the house and plantation, interacting with visitors in Monticello’s new museum spaces, and providing other special programs as needed. Individuals should have strong interpersonal skills and an interest in history. They must also be committed to working as part of a team to ensure an excellent visitor experience. Minimum qualifications: 2 years of college and demonstrated public speaking abilities. Successful candidates must be able to commit to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays in February plus a few additional weekday sessions in March. Monticello guides work at least eight days per month during busier times and as little as two days per month in slower times. Some weekend and holiday work is required. Deadline to apply is November 20.

Visitor Operations Team Leader (Full-Time). Monticello has an exciting opportunity for a front-line supervisor with a passion for leading by example, promoting customer service, and who thrives on being a hands-on leader. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Visitor Operations, this multi-faceted position is responsible for managing visitor operations staff and processes. Qualified candidates will have experience with cash handling, point of sale systems, and dealing with the public. Retail management and/or experience in a historic museum setting are a plus. Proficiency with computers is a must. Only those who with the highest standards for providing the best customer service need apply. The schedule for this full-time benefitted position includes weekends and holidays and will involve some outside work in all weather conditions.
